Sometimes extinction is part of the natural evolution or growth of the planet. For instance, dinosaurs are extinct and it's a pretty good thing!

But many times extinction isn't the result of natural causes. More often, extinction occurs because animals' habitats or homes are taken away. It can also be the result of hunting, pollution, or other actions that throw nature out of balance.
