Clay comes directly from the earth. It is a type of dirt that is made up of many small particles of rock. Water surrounds each particle and forms a material that can be molded into different shapes for different uses. People have used clay for thousands of years. Roads, bricks, writing tablets, pots, vases, and tiles are some things that were once made from clay. We still use clay today. Cement is made by mixing clay with sand. What things around your house are made from clay?
