Limited Quantities—Handle with Care!
Coal must be conserved and used wisely because:
- Coal and the other fossil fuels are nonrenewable energy sources. When these fuels are gone, there will be no more.
- Some coal contains a high amount of sulfur. When this coal is burned, sulfur dioxide is made and released into the air. When sulfur dioxide mixes with rain water, it becomes acid rain. Acid rain pollutes our water, air, food supply and land.
