Most of that water, about 97 percent, is saltwater found in oceans and seas. That means that only 3 percent is fresh water. Here's an easy way to think of these percentages: If there were 100 glasses of water representing the earth's water, 97 of them would be filled with saltwater and only 3 glasses would contain fresh water! This is why water is a very precious resource.
