Misty : Cool Projects : Water Conservation
Water Conservation Project
We use water for many things. We drink it, clean with it, play in it, work with it and keep our gardens and lawns beautiful with it. Can you think of all the ways that you use water at home and school? How is water used in your neighborhood or town? With so many uses, water is an important resource to protect. Luckily, saving water is fun and easy! All it takes is a little thoughtfulness and effort to make a WORLD of difference!
What you will need:
- a printer connected to your computer
- scissors
- glue
Instructions:
- Print out the Water Saver Chart on page 6.
- Print out the page with Buckets and Barrels (page 6).
- After you've completed your water saving activity, check the Water Log to see which Buckets, Barrels or Bonus Drops you have earned! Print out Misty's Water Log (page 6) and keep it next to your Water Saver Chart.
- Cut out the correct Bucket, Barrel or Bonus Drop from the sheet and glue it onto your Water Saver chart. If you have earned a Bucket or Barrel, cut out the activity picture that shows how you earned your award. Glue that picture next to the Bucket or Barrel. For example, if you took a shorter shower, cut out the picture of the showerhead and glue it under the 12 Gallon Bucket that you earned.
- Post your chart in a place where your whole family can see it, like on the refridgerator or a bulletin board. Invite your family to be water savers, too, and print out charts for them.
- At the end of one week add up all the water you saved!
- Congratulations! Don't forget to keep up your new water saving habits. You can make a WORLD of difference in protecting one of our most precious resources!
