Most people find it sad that animals are killed by fires. However, natural fires are part of nature's growth cycle and the entire animal population benefits. After a fire, animal life returns and thrives in the forest.
Even fish are helped by forest fires. Streams and lakes are often covered by dense tree canopies. Fires thin the canopy. More sunlight shines into the water, allowing plant life to grow. These plants, along with the burnt plants that fall into the water, provide nutrients for fish. It is amazing how many different parts of the ecosystem are helped from naturally caused forest fires.
